Objective (DC Program): The modernization of the renewable energy sector contributes to sustainable economic development, improving the quality of life of the population and achieving Kenya's climate targets.

DKTI - Promotion of E-Mobility in Kenya (E-Mobility)

OBJECTIVE: Improve framework conditions for e-mobility (for urban and rural applications) in Kenya and foster the use of technologies.
2022 - 2026

  • Policy, Standardization and Regulation - Support relevant national policies, regulations and standards for e-mobility.
  • Training and Networking - Training, knowledge exchange and stakeholder coordination activities; develop occupational standards and Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) on e-mobility.
  • Piloting and Dissemination - Support pilot projects and dissemination initiatives to increase awareness on e-mobility applications and related business models.

Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) E-Bus Mission

OBJECTIVE: Support Nairobi and partner NaMATA (Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority) in its transition towards electric bus deployment. 2019 - 2022

  • Global and city specific coalition building - Establish a global community of practice of private & public sector partners and 20 city-specific sub-coalitions to support their respective cities advance towards mass adoption of e-buses.
  • Roadmaps and technical assistance for the deep dive cities - define e-bus targets that are timebound, ambitious, and achievable. Develop and implement strategic e-bus acceleration work plans for the deep dive cities including tailored technical assistance
  • Upscaling and dissemination in cities networks - City-to-city mentoring and create and disseminate training materials and workshops for the mentee cities on various aspects of e-bus planning, procurement, and operation.
